4 years ago Eric Ryan a player from the Greater Los Angeles Softball Association approached their Commissioner about putting together an amazing tournament that will be the premier event to attend. In that short amount of time, 4 years, the Sin City Shootout has become the largest softball tournament in North America.
Bringing teams from the US, Canada and England together for a 3 day weekend long event takes months of playing from a dedicated committee put together by Mr Ryan. Composed of members of the Greater Los Angeles Softball Association, they schedule and plan games for over 135 teams, a central host hotel with over 500 rooms a night for the attendees and nightly social events where the players can socialize and let loose after grueling games on the field.
After 2 years hosting this tournament in Las Vegas, it spurred an interest from Las Vegas locals to start their own LGBT softball league. So not only does this tournament bring players together for a good time, it created future softball stars!
The tournament, hosting 2000 softball players has been such a success that basketball was added for the 2011 gays with an additional 250 basketball players participating.
Plans are now underway to further expand the tournament with a vision of creating a Winter Sports Festival. Many Los Angeles sports groups have been contacted including Gay Ice Hockey, Tennis, Football, Volleyball, and Aquatics.
If you would like to attend the games and social events or have a gay team that is interested in participating, please contact the tournament director Eric Ryan at firstname.lastname@example.org
